SMITH (PÉREZ):	Mi nombre es Pérez. (My name is Pérez)

JONES (VELEZ):	Y el mío es Velez. (And mine is Velez)

SMITH (PÉREZ):	"Y estamos investigando si a la gente le gusta tener basura en su casa". (And we are researching if people like having trash at home.)

SFX:	(doorbell: ding dong)
(door opening)
(dog barking in distance)

MAN:	"¿Sí?" (Yes?)


JONES (VELEZ):	Señor ¿reconoce estas colillas? (Sir, do you recognize these cigarette butts?)

MAN:	Pero ¿qué están….? No… OIGAN, ¡no las tiren en mi alfombra! (But what are you…? No....HEY, don’t dump them over my carpet!)

JONES (VELEZ): 	Estamos tratando de determinar si a la gente de California le gusta que haya basura en su casa. (We’re trying to determine if the people of California like having  garbage in their homes.)

MAN:	PERO, ¿ESTÁ USTED LOCO? (BUT, ARE YOU CRAZY?)

JONES (VELEZ):	"¡Ah-ha! Por su reacción, parece que no le gusta que haya basura en su casa." (Ah-ha! From your reaction it seems that you don’t like having trash in your house.)

MAN:	¿QUIÉNES SON USTE..…--(interrupted) (WHO ARE YOU PEOPL--(interrupted))

SMITH (PÉREZ):	Señor, estas colillas son suyas, lo vimos tirarlas a la carretera desde su coche. (Sir, these cigarette butts are yours, we saw you throwing them from your car to the freeway.)

MAN:	"Si… pero....yo....bueno... tenía que…"
(Oh, but, I, well, I had to...)

JONES (VELEZ):	"¿Vive usted en California señor?"
(Do you live in California sir?)

MAN:	"Pues… sí".
(Well… yes.)

SMITH (PÉREZ):	"Y no le gusta tener basura en su casa".
(And you don’t like trash in your home.)

MAN:	¡No!… salgan de mi casa… esperen, ¡primero limpien esta basura! (No!  Get out of my house...no first, clean up this trash!)

JONES (VELEZ):	Entonces ¿por qué ensucia California señor? (Then why would you get California dirty, sir?)

SFX:	(water spilling on carpet)

MAN:	¿Y AHORA QUÉ HACE? …..¡está tirando agua en la alfombra! (WHAT ARE YOU DOING NOW!...you’re pouring water over my carpet!)

JONES (VELEZ):	El agua y la basura no se mezclan. El agua de la lluvia arrastra la basura a las carreteras y alcantarillas. Es un serio problema. (Water and trash don’t mix. Rain water drags trash from freeways into storm drains.  It’s a serious problem.)

MAN:	No lo vuelvo hacer, ¡pero ya váyanse! (pleading) (I won’t do it again, but please, just go! [pleading])

ANNOUNCER:	California es su casa, no haga de ella un basurero. Mensaje de Caltrans Storm Water Program. (California is your home, don’t make it a dump.  A message from The Caltrans Storm Water Program.)
